Albert John Pellizzari founded Pellizzari Concrete in 1953
after returning from the Korean War. He had worked for his grandfather
and uncle for many years, both long-time Palo Alto contractors.
Back in the 1920’s, Grandfather Albert Simonini poured the
concrete of the first hangar at Moffett Field using a portable
concrete mixer that had to be shovel-loaded for 15 cents an hour.
Albert’s son Mick joined the family business in 1973. After
incorporating Pellizzari Concrete in 1979, work was done on local,
well-known projects such as Allied Arts in Menlo Park, the original
pool and deck for the Chuck Thompson Swim Club in Los Altos, and
El Camino Hospital in Mountain View in 1961. Mick became President
and CEO in 1992. To this day he keeps the business in the family;
currently his son Monti is actively involved.
